The company has been in business for eight years, and for half of their existence, Production Supervisor Louis Monreal has overseen daily operation. Transforming Natural Sand Deposits into High Value Products

Bastrop Sand Supply sources its raw feed from deposits that have formed over hundreds of years of flooding along the Colorado River. This raw material is then fed into their TWS AggreSand 206, where it is washed, cleaned, and separated into specific, sellable material sizes. The machine allows the team to produce a wide range of products including concrete sand, fill sand, bull rock, which is their oversize product, pea gravel or 3/8”, as well as one-inch, 1.5-inch, and two-inch gravel.

The versatility of the AggreSand 206 allows Bastrop to supply materials to various concrete companies, contractors, and local construction projects. Their oversize, for example, is mixed with their crushed one-inch material to create a blend used frequently in road fill construction. Their pea gravel, the 3/8” product, is also used heavily by concrete companies for concrete mixes.

Among all the materials they produce, concrete sand stands out as the finest product leaving their site. This sand benefits significantly from the built-in high-frequency dewatering screen located at the end of the AggreSand 206. The machine’s 14’ x 6’ dewatering screen allows Bastrop Sand Supply to reduce moisture content efficiently, enhancing both the quality and consistency of the finished sand.

The dewatering screen is capable of producing up to 200 tons of sand per hour, a capability that Louis emphasized as a key advantage for maintaining production goals. He shared that the unit’s ability to produce sand at the correct moisture content “95% of the time” is one of his favorite features of the entire machine. Moisture consistency is essential for many of their customers who rely on predictable, uniform material, and the AggreSand 206 delivers exactly that.

Louis explained, “As the production supervisor, it is my entire job to analyze how much material goes in and how much comes out and at what speeds and volumes. With the AggreSand 206, we could not be happier with its performance.” The operation currently produces 86,000 tons of material per month, a target they are able to meet due to the machine’s efficiency and minimal downtime.

Louis noted that the AggreSand 206 runs 17 hours a day, every day, and the number of breakdowns has been extremely low. This reliability has been crucial in keeping production flowing and ensuring Bastrop Sand Supply is able to meet customer demand consistently.
